 Day 1: Arrival in Istanbul

Welcome to Turkey! You will be greeted with hospitality at the Atatürk International Airport by a Team Travel representative and driven into the heart of the old city where you can rest and relax for the remainder of the day. Today you may have an optional Bosphorus Cruise (2:30 pm) where you can view the wonders of Istanbul from the water.  Overnight: Istanbul

 Day 2: Istanbul City Tour

This morning we partake in a fully guided tour of the only city to span two continents. We will visit the Hagia (St.) Sophia, one of the greatest marvels of architecture, constructed as a basilica in the 6th century by Emperor Justinian. Blue Mosque, facing Hagia Sophia, famous with its blue Iznik tiles and unique with 6 minarets, built in the name of Sultan Ahmet. Hippodrome, center of sportive (chariot races, athletics) events and political activities of the old city. Obelisk of heodosius, Serpentine Column, German Fountain of Wilhelm II are the monuments decorating Hippodrome.  Topkapi Palace The great palace of the Ottoman sultans from the 15th to the 19th centuries housing an exquisite collection of crystal, silver, and Chinese porcelain, robes worn by the sultans and their families, the famous jewels of the Imperial Treasury, miniatures, the Holy Mantle; enshrining relics of the Prophet Mohammed.  Overnight: Istanbul

 Day 3: Istanbul to Gallipoli

 

 

 

 

 

 

After an early breakfast we drive to the World War I Battlefield of Gallipoli stopping along the way to pick up refreshments for lunch. You will also have an opportunity to watch “Gallipoli” the movie so you get a feel for the type of people who fought in this war and to help you picture conditions 93 years ago. This afternoon on a fully guided tour, you will visit the Kabatepe War Museum, Anzac Cove, Hell Spit Cemetery, Lone Pine, The Nek, and Chunuk Bair War memorial.  Your guide will reveal stories of battle woes and will bring alive the legend of the Anzac's. By visiting the peninsula we get to spend more time exploring without the crowds.This evening we will travel to our luxurious accommodation.Overnight: Canakkale

Day 4: Troy

After breakfast, we drive to the ruins of Troy. Our guide will reveal stories of the famed battle between Achilles and Hector, and reveal the fable behind the Trojan horse. After our morning Troy tour, we drive back to Canakkale. Emotions run high during the ceremony, after the service is over, in the afternoon you will travel back to Istanbul, arriving there in the late evening. 


 

Day 5: Istanbul City Tour
After breakfast, full day tour; Spice Bazaar (Egyptian Bazaar): Spice Bazaar built between 1597 and 1664. It is the second oldest covered bazaar in the city. You may find there spices, dried fruits, nuts, seeds and Turkish delights in an authentic decor full of oriental scents. Rustem Pasha Mosque: Rustem Pasha Mosque built in 1560 by the imperial architect Sinan for Rustem Pasha, son-in-law and grand vizier of Sultan Soliman the Magnificent. The particular splendor of this jewel of Ottoman architecture lies in the Iznik tiles covering it, both inside and outside and no other mosque in Istanbul makes such a lavish use of these tiles. Bosphorus Cruise: The magical journey which covers European and Asian shores by our private boat will let you see the marvelous monuments and district with a possibility to take photographs of marble palaces, ancient wooden villas of Ottoman architecture, besides modern residentials and luxurious apartments. Rumeli Fortress (From the sea): The biggest fortification of Istanbul can be seen clearly during our Bosphorus Cruise. Dolmabahce Palace:The last residence for Ottoman Sultans with 365 rooms and 22 saloons, built between 1843 and 1856. Famous with the great collection of European antiquity, furniture and 4.5 tons chandelier. Ataturk lived the final part of his life in the residental part of the palace and died there. Ortaköy: Ortaköy is a cosmopolitan area, bordering the waters of the Bosphorus with communities of Turks, Greeks, Armenians and Jews. It is also a popular spot for locals and tourists alike, with its art galleries, night clubs, cafes, bars and restaurants. Bosphorus Bridge: Unique chance to drive from Europe to Asia with a breathtaking view of the Bosphorus. It is 1.074m long and was the 4th longest in the world when completed. Camlıca Hill: The highest point in Istanbul offers you a fantastic panoramic view of the entire city and Bosphorus.

Day 6: The end of the tour

After breakfast the tour finishes and we bid farewell to our new found friends and exchange e-mails. Wherever you are heading to next, you will take unforgettable memories and a new understanding of this country that plays such an important part in your history.
